Dr. Storms has been involved with
the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for over 25
years and treats many athletes with allergies and asthma,
specifically exercise-induced asthma. He is a well-known
expert on exercise-induced asthma and has served as Chairman
of the Sportsmedicine Committees of the American College of
Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of
Allergy Asthma and Immunology. He serves as an
associate editor of Medicine and Science in Sports and
Exercise, a sportsmedicine journal. He has published
articles on the diagnosis and treatment of exercise induced
asthma. His special interests are in the diagnosis and
treatment of allergies and asthma in athletes, whether they
are recreational or elite.
In 2006 the William Storms Allergy
Clinic introduced a standardized test for exercise-induced
asthma which is simple to perform and does not require
running on a treadmill or inhaling irritant chemicals.
